The Cards

A greeting card lying flat, card front showing a single unlit birthday candle

Birthday (Belated)

For the birthday that passed without acknowledgment. Arrives 2 to 6 weeks after. The message: 'Your birthday happened. We know that now. We're sorry we weren't there in time. We're glad you were born.'

A greeting card lying flat, card front showing a closing door at the end of a hallway

Missed Opportunity

For the opportunity that closed before anyone said anything about it. Arrives after the window has passed. Sometimes this is the first acknowledgment that the window existed.

A greeting card lying flat, card front showing two empty chairs at a cafe table

Missed Connection

For the moment of potential connection that wasn't taken. Two people in the same place at the same time who didn't speak. Sent to the one who noticed.

A greeting card lying flat, card front showing a small trophy on a shelf

Belated Congratulations

For achievements that were acknowledged internally but not externally at the time. The promotion, the publication, the quiet victory. Arrives late enough to feel like it was always coming.

A greeting card lying flat, card front showing a single wilting flower in a glass

Late Sympathy

For grief that was witnessed but not acknowledged when it was fresh. Sometimes sympathy arrives after the acute phase, when the person is expected to be 'better.' It still matters.

The General Missed

For the undifferentiated sense that something was missed — a period, a season, a version of a relationship — without being able to name exactly what. Our most popular card.
